The library collection of Hamilton Psychiatric Hospital is one of the most comprehensive, specialized psychiatric collections in the Province of Ontario. Materials include books, journals and audio visual programs. Information is available relating to every program and discipline in the hospital.
The library has a collection of over 200 medical journals in the psychiatric and allied health fields. Our book collection numbers close to 2000 titles. Approximately 300 video tapes are also available for viewing. We offer computerized literature searching using Medline, ClinPSYCH and CINAHL. We have recently upgraded to OVID technology. As well, staff may search from their work stations. Ask us about this great feature.
Recently, the library book and A/V collection became automated, staff can now access the library collection from their work stations using the Eloquent Librarian automated catalogue. Internet searching is also available and is particularly helpful when looking for information for families and consumers.
Every month, we send copies of journal table of contents to the various programs/disciplines of the hospital. Please look at our new book listing and selections from our audio visual collection.
We are proud of this collection and want all the members of the HPH community to take full advantage of what we have to offer, please call, e-mail or visit. We are here to support you!
